| Simple Freedom was a joint project with Alltel, Verison, and Walmart, but the partnership was broken up and has now been moved to Alltel U Prepaid.
They are based in Little Rock, Arkansas and are owned directly by Alltel Communications. Simple Freedom offers simple pricing plans with no contracts or no credit checks as well as a partnership with retailers like Walmart and Kmart, which make these prepaid cellphones available to the public. |
The plans available with Simple Freedom are fairly simple, because the minute rate depends on the area that you are located in whenever you are making or receiving the calls.
Calls that are made and received in your home area are only .15 cents per minute, while calls made and received in a roaming area are .50 cents per minute.
Prepaid airtime cards are sold for $20, $30, $50, and $100, but these minutes will roll over if you will purchase more minutes within the service agreement.
Text messaging is available at the small cost of .08 cents per message no matter whether it is received or it is sent, but there is no picture messaging nor web access currently available at this time.
However, Simple Freedom does have ringtones available through Alltel starting at .99 cents per download. The calling features include call waiting, caller ID, and voicemail.
Directory assistance is available at a charge of $1.25 also with an addition to airtime charges, and 911 calls are also available. The activation fee is included with the initial
cost of the cellphone.
Simple Freedom offers limited international calling capabilities to Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico for .50 cents per minute plus additional airtime charges. Roaming charges are also .50 cents per minute and any long distance calls with the United States are to be treated as regular calls.
Customer service is available only Monday through Friday (6am till 12pm - CST), Saturday (7am till 8pm - CST), and Sunday (9am til 8pm - CST) it is also available through email during these same hours in either English or Spanish.
The expiration time on minutes greatly depends on the denomination of card purchased. For instance, only the $100 card has a expiration date of one year, but the $20, $30, and $50 have sixty expiration dates.
As you add airtime to the current service period the entire balance will receive a brand new service period. If a zero balance was on your account and it was not refill within 120 days, then the account would be considered void and they would cancel it and recycle your number.
If you were to desire to re-activate your service, then you would need to call customer service and a new number would be assigned to you, but no reactivation fees
would be charged.
