Jump Mobile Prepaid Cell Phones Review

Jump Mobile is a San Diego, California based wireless service provider and a subsidary of Leap Wireless Internationl, Inc., which also owns Cricket mobile. It was founded in 2005 and is currently available in 22 states, and its target is the youth audience.

Jump offers a simple pay as you go plan so you add dollars instead of minutes to your account, but the cost for incoming calls is free and the cost for outgoing calls is .10 cents per minute.

Whenever outside of a calling area the price jumps to .69 cents per minute for both incoming and outgoing calls, but text messaging is free when within the local calling area and only .10 cents per minute outside of it.

With Jump Mobile there is no credit check, no contract, and no activation fee.  Airtime can be purchased by a credit card through customer service or directly on the website or at an authorized dealer.  Customer service is available by a toll free number at any time.

The call features available are voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, and 3 way calling, but as of now there is no web access available.  However, downloads are available for a one time fee of only $5 and after this fee ringtones, wallpaper, games, and other information are available.

Picture messaging is not available, but international text messaging is available for the price of .10 cents per minute and international calling to select countries is also only .10 cents per minute in addition to standard airtime rates.

A fee is charged for directory assistant calls from Jump Mobile, but this fee is not specified anywhere on there website so the exact charge is unknown.

Emergency call to 911 can be made from your Jump Mobile prepaid cellphone.

With the minute expiration of Jump Mobile there are four tiers, which begin at the $10 of airtime that expires after only a seven day period.  When purchasing the $20 of airtime it expires within a fifteen day period, while a $30 purchase of airtime will expire in thirty days.  The $50 purchase of airtime expires after ninety days.

There is presently only a limited amount of phones available through Jump Mobile which are UTStarcom CDM7025J or Motorola SLVR L7c.
